YES, THERE WILL BE SPECULATION! BUT IT IS MORE USEFUL TO PRAY!: NEXT SUNDAY, APRIL 24th - "FIRST COMMUNION": But it is also important for us as a parish community. The book we are using as a guide in preparation has as title "Come, Join Us at the Table". That title is quite significant. It suggests that we as a parish community are inviting our younger members to join us in what we need to do on Sunday: Come together as Christ's Body on the Day of the Lord around the Table of the Lord Jesus. It inevitably urges us to reflect on how important it is for us to come together as Church on Sunday to show that together we are Christ's Body. Are we prepared to give it priority and set other things aside for it, even if it is not always at a convenient time? How important is it to us that together we are Our Lady of Victory and St. Malachy parish. Do we express our loyalty to our parish communities by making our Sunday Eucharist central to our Catholic faith life. In some way making "our First Communion" is relatively easy. Coming together and joining our parish community for Sunday Eucharist is quite a challenge today! A JOINT MEETING OF PPC AND THE TWO FABRIQUES - MONDAY, APRIL 18, 7:00 P.M.: On Pentecost Sunday 2004, our bishop gave the Gatineau-Hull diocese a document that tried to spell out the orientation for our diocese for the next 10-15 years: "Discovering Jesus Christ: the Path to Freedom". What our bishop would like to see happening is that our parishes become - what he calls - "schools of catechesis". This has less to do with teaching catechism than with forming not just the children, but all of us for the christian life. That is an ongoing process and applies to all age groups. It is not finished with receiving a sacrament; in fact, it is only completed when we finally come home in God. That is a lofty vision. But how do we implement it? We have sort of stumbled upon a little book by Bill Huebsch "Whole Community Catechesis". It seems to be a little more practical than the above mentioned document, but it operates from the same vision. In the meantime Bill Huebsch has put out a video "7 Key Principles" for whole community catechesis. It is that video that the PPC and the Wardens are going to see together. It is so important that the parish leadership is on the same wavelength. What better way than viewing and discussing the video together! Please, let no one feel excluded. Members of liturgy committee, of choir, of O.L.V. Society and anyone else interested join us. The more the better. It can benefit our parish.WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS TO COUNT THE COLLECTION (O.L.V.):
