ARE YOU NEW TO OUR PARISH? WELCOME!
Welcome to those who want to make our parish their faith home. You may have come from other places. You may have been “away for a while”. Be assured that we love to have you among us. We would appreciate it very much if you identified yourself at Mass. It would also help if you would take the time to fill out a registration form. The next time you are with us, you may leave it in the collection basket or give it to one of the ushers or to the priest. Thank you and welcome.

GENERAL ABSOLUTION WITHDRAWN
At the beginning of the month of November, Mgr Ebacher visited the pastoral regions of the diocese to meet with all the priests and to present to them the pastoral orientation of the diocese in what concerns the celebration of the sacrament of confession and the general absolution.
In his letter dated 22 October 2008, the archbishop confirms that after serious considerations, discussions with the ''Conseil Presbyteral” and prayers, he considers, at this present time, that the conditions required by the “Mottu Proprio” of John Paul II and accepted by the decree of the “CECC” so that a third form of the sacrament of confessions (community celebration with general absolution) will no longer be optional in our diocese. Therefore, the Archbishop asked that all Parishes cease the practice of the confession of its third form (general absolution) beginning the first Sunday of Advent (30 November 2008).
On the 12th of November 1974, Mgr Adolph Prolix had authorized the general absolution as described in the ritual of Paul Vi, The diocese official Web site contains all the appropriate references, Including the letter from Mgr Ebadcher.

In the words of Mother Julienne of the Rosary, who is presently a candidate for sainthood in Rome, “Pray that our Lord will send many adorators to His Church. My dream is that there be many priests, parishes, Eucharistic families, communities, prayer groups and generations of worshippers. Love and glory to the Holy Trinity through the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus.”
PPC – MASS QUESTIONNAIRE
Several weeks ago, you were asked to respond to a questionnaire concerning our parishes experience of celebrating Sunday Eucharist together for the month of October at OLV.
There were some excellent insights in these responses and they will be collated and published in the parish bulletin in January. Meanwhile, if you didn’t have an opportunity to respond and would like your opinion included, there are copies of the questionnaire at the entrance of the church. Please fill it in and put it in the collection basket.

The Catholic Bishops of Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo have sent out a "cry of distress and protest" about the humanitarian situation in their country, which they have called a "silent genocide".
In a declaration, they have asked for emergency relief for the hundreds of thousands of Congolese currently living in displaced persons camps. "Unprovoked and large-scale massacres of the civilian population, targeted extermination of the youth, systematic rapes as a weapon of war; once more cruelty of exceptional virulence is raging against the local populations who never wished for anything more than a peaceful and decent life on their land," write the Bishops.
Since late October, DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE has been receiving donations for an emergency relief project with its partner Caritas Congo to distribute basic necessities to 90,000 displaced persons in North-Kivu. DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE Executive Director Michael Casey calls on the Canadian population to contribute generously to the organization’s Congo relief fund. "Each donation that we receive will play a vital part in ending the humanitarian crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo,” he says. “By giving aid to the Congolese, we are giving them the strength to find alternatives and the comfort that the international community has not forgotten them."
Two Congolese Bishops will visit DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE in early December and will participate in a joint press conference on Parliament Hill asking the Canadian government to take immediate action on this issue. Contributions can be made by telephone (1-888-664-3387), online at
www.devp.org or by cheque (marked "Emergency: Congo") sent to the following address:
