OLV PARISH NEWS
Earlier this year, the Wardens indicated that they would be seeking new revenue streams to assist in offsetting administrative and operating costs. One of our initiatives was to seek ways to use the Rectory as a revenue generating area.
As of May 1st, we have our first tenant, Just.Equipping, who is renting office space in the dining and living room areas of the Rectory. Just.Equipping is a not for profit Canadian charity committed to educating, training, and equipping prison chaplains and workers. Their activities are directed towards Africa. As an example, Just.Equipping has undertaken training sessions in Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon.
Just.Equipping fulfills its mission by:
- Sending teaching teams of 4-5 people to developing countries for intensive training sessions; and
- Bringing to Canada a small number of key leaders to benefit from the annual Restorative Justice Sessions at Queen’s University in Kingston.
In addition to renting office space, from time to time Just.Equipping will also be renting bedrooms for students coming from Africa to participate in their programming.
The Wardens are pleased to be able to partner with such a worthwhile organization.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Ginette Cadieux Pearson whose funeral took place at OLV on Saturday. Please remember Brian, Jason and the Pearson & Cadieux families in your prayers.

Tickets are limited and are available from Raymond St-Jean (819) 986-6636 or from Alma (819) 986-3763. In order to expand our usual auction, we are requesting the participation of our parishioners. We are proposing that families within the Parish donate food baskets comprised of homemade preserves (i.e. jams, pickles, salsa, etc.) or other homemade family treats. Another way individuals can contribute is to donate gift certificates from local businesses or provide various gift baskets. As well, our local artists are also encouraged to participate by donating paintings or crafts. For those individuals who are willing to help our auction, would you please advise Alma of your interest and what you plan to donate no later than May 8th.
There will also be a Raffle for a Barbecue. Tickets are available at the above numbers.

OLV GARAGE SALE
Just a reminder about our garage sale to be held on Saturday September 19th and Sunday September 20th. Please note the hours:
Saturday: 9:00 - 16:00
Sunday: 10:00 – 16:00
DON’T THROW OUT your items RECYCLE them for our sale. On Friday, September 19th the church will be opened from 9:00 - 15:00 for you to drop off your goods. If you can not wait until that day, give me a call at 986-3166 and pick up will be arranged.

CANCER SOCIETY RELAY FOR LIFE 2009
Just a reminder that the Buckingham Relay for Life will take place on: Friday, June 5th, starting at 7:00pm Friday until 7:00 am Saturday morning at McAndrew Park.
Shirley Ellement from St Malachy Parish and a group of eleven people have entered a team to walk in the relay, under the name PREVENTION. If you would like to sponsor that team, Shirley will be at the Saturday Evening Masses on May 9th and May16th .to accept your donations and your support. Candles can also be purchased, to be light during the candle lighting ceremony and burned during the relay for your intentions.
Monique Simpson will be at OLV Church on Sunday May 10th & 16th, to accept your donations for the ROBITAILLE FAMILY GROUP. You may also purchase Candles from Monique at that time.
USED STAMPS
The response to the request for used stamps has been great. Please continue to donate your stamps. There is a container at the entrance of the Church and the stamps are then forwarded to Missions.
