Food for Thought |
The Sadducees try to trick Jesus who then lifts them above the human tangles in which they are trapped, to a cosmic vision.
“He is God not of the dead but of the living, for to him all are alive. ”We are part of that cosmos that embraces Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as well as our ancestors to the beginning of creation. In the resurrection we will share the eternal now of God.

ARE YOU NEW TO OUR PARISH? WELCOME! |
Welcome to those who want to make our parish their faith home. You may have come from other places. You may have been “away for a while”. Be assured that we love to have you among us. We would appreciate it very much if you identified yourself at Mass. It would also help if you would take the time to fill out a registration form. The next time you are with us, you may leave it in the collection basket or give it to one of the ushers or to the priest.
Thank you and welcome. |

NOVEMBER - THE MONTH IN WHICH WE REMEMBER THE DECEASED
November is traditionally the month in which we give more attention to the remembrance of the deceased. Christians do so in a unique way based on what is central in our faith: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In our two parishes, we have a tradition of leaving our Book of Life at the front of the church for the month of November. The Book of Life contains the names of deceased parishioners and relatives. Some additional pages are provided at the back of the book if anyone wants to add names. It is our way of expressing our faith that the dead find peace with God and will be raised to life when the Lord Jesus comes in glory. The Book is placed next to the Easter Candle which speaks of the ultimate victory of life over death, of light over darkness, in the dead and risen Jesus. We are called to share in that victory.
Fr. Yves will lead us in a short ceremony to honour the deceased. We invite the families who lost someone in the past year to participate by lighting a candle from the Easter Candle during that ceremony. We will also remember in a special way those who lost their lives in service to their country.
The deceased inscribed in the OLV Book of life for the past year are:

A SUCCESSFUL EVENING
Once again our harvest supper proved to be a great success, with a wonderful meal being served and with many families and friends in attendance. The success of this event was the result of collaboration between our two faith communities. The profit for the evening was $ 4,516.00 which is to be divided evenly between our two parishes. To all those who contributed, thank you for your continuous support, with a special thank you to Marilyn Charron for donating the wonderful quilt. Once again this year, Marilyn’s quilt drew a lot of interest. In fact, a total of 156 books of ten tickets were sold for a total of $1,560.00.
