The wardens are pleased to announce that the sale of the property next to the Rectory has been finalized at last. It was indeed a lengthy process. Originally, the lot next to the Rectory actually ran through the middle of the garage. This, of course was not practical, in that it is essential that the Parish be the sole owner of the Garage which is connected to the Rectory. The redefinition of the lot took quite a bit of time, given the process required the involvement of both the municipality and the provincial governments. Other delays were caused by the fact that the Gatineau Diocese had never taken the necessary legal steps to transfer the Parish buildings from the Ottawa Diocese, (this required the service of a notary to make the necessary jurisdictional changes) and the need for negotiate rights of way to the laneway for both parties, as well as access to the back of the church for the Parish.
The sale price for the property was $50,000.00. After Real Estate and Surveyor fees, sales and service taxes and a few other minor charges the final sale price was $44,290.78. Most of these funds will be invested, with about $ 14,000.00 being reserved for capital projects that will be directed towards upgrades to the Church, Rectory, Furnace and the Garage.
In the near future, the wardens will provide a listing of these capital projects which are necessary to undertake.
