Food for Thought
  • Did you smile, Lord, when you assured your friends that they were worth more than sparrows? You were promising something much more, something quite momentous; that even the very hairs of my head are numbered.
  • We mortals are born and die in our millions, many of us unregarded or forgotten. Yet you say your Father cherishes each of us personally. Without that faith I may despair.

ARE YOU NEW TO OUR PARISH? WELCOME!
Welcome to those who want to make our parish their faith home. You may have come from other places. You may have been “away for a while”. Be assured that we love to have you among us. We would appreciate it very much if you identified yourself at Mass. It would also help if you would take the time to fill out a registration form. The next time you are with us, you may leave it in the collection basket or give it to one of the ushers or to the priest. Thank you and welcome.

GOD'S GIFT OF LIFE FOR THE WORLD
The 49th International Eucharistic Congress is underway in Quebec City with pilgrims from around the world coming together to celebrate their faith and bear witness to the Gospel by sharing moments of prayer, reflection and fraternity. We who have stayed behind are not excluded from this. We too come together in prayer and fraternity around the Eucharist. And we too have an opportunity for reflection and growth and sharing. The attachment you find in the Bulletin today is meant to aid us in that capacity. We need to find excuses to slow down our busy lives and sit with God. Here is a very good excuse: God's Gift of Life for the World - The Eucharist. What is that really all about? Is it really mine from God? How is it share-able? When? Where? We have three perspectives to listen to while we read this addition to the bulletin: one from Ron Rolheiser OMI, one from Rev. W. Thomas Faucher, and one from our own Linda Cameron, pilgrim and delegate for OLV and St. Malachy. ...Happy Reading!

OUR "WEBMASTER" STEPS DOWN
Ambrose Ward has been our Website Administrator since the inception of our website at www.stmalachyolv.com and must now take leave of these duties. He has been a tremendous asset to our 'spreading the Word' out there in the land of the Wide World Web, and we thank him for all his has done in that capacity. And now we must call on a replacement to fill his shoes. The advances we have made must not stop here. If you are interested or know someone who might be interested, please let us know! You can contact any one of the PPC members or leave a message with Alma at the office.

ST.MALACHY’S WARDENS MEETING
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 25th, 7:30p.m.

NEXT PPC MEETING
The next meeting will be held on June 24th from 7:15 p.m. in the Rectory.

CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION RECEIVED FROM A CHILD'S VOICE FOUNDATION
A copy of the certificate is at both parishes as a reminder that this was a community effort and that together our "contribution will help restore a child's self-esteem and self-confidence". Angel Hair for Kids provides wigs to children who have lost their hair as a result of the A, B, C's of hair loss: Alopecia, Burns or Cancer. Thanks again to all who played a part in this!

THANK YOU FROM THE COMMITTEE FOR CANCER SURVIVORS AND FIGHTERS
Thanks to all who helped me raise $1,260, from your pledges and purchases of candles, for the Relay for Life on June 13. My team, the Robitaille family, raised $5,201 for the cause.

Note: Income tax receipts will be issued to you from the Canadian Cancer Society for any donations over $10.00.

This is the first time I have been part of an organizing team that had so much fin putting this event together, riding on such an emotional roller coaster and ending on a high when a cheque of over $66,000.00 was presented to the Canadian Cancer Society.

A salute to all cancer survivors and fighters for all that you have been through. Our sore feet and legs do not compare to your battle. May we continue to support and help you by finding a cure for this disease?

God bless you all!

Monique Simpson
(On behalf of the Survivor and fighters committee)
