Reading I Numbers 21 4.9. Responsorial Psalm Do not forget the works of the Lord.
Reading II Philippians 2. 6 - 11 Gospel John 3. 13 - 17
Food for Thought
  • Jesus says these words to Nicodemus, a Pharisee who came to him at night searching for answers.
  • Jesus’ message is not of condemnations, but of God’s love and a promise of eternal life. What does all of this mean to me?

ARE YOU NEW TO OUR PARISH? WELCOME!
Welcome to those who want to make our parish their faith home. You may have come from other places. You may have been “away for a while”. Be assured that we love to have you among us. We would appreciate it very much if you identified yourself at Mass. It would also help if you would take the time to fill out a registration form. The next time you are with us, you may leave it in the collection basket or give it to one of the ushers or to the priest. Thank you and welcome.

CATECHESIS SUNDAY TO BE CELEBRATED SEPTEMBER 20/21
What is ‘Catechesis’ you ask? It can mean many things but basically has to do with how we hand on the faith that has been passed on to us. The Bishops of Quebec have made the 3rd Sunday in September an annual opportunity to reflect on, celebrate together and make a fuss about all the good works that are done in, for and by our 2-parish community.

There is more about this in the insert in this week’s bulletin where we take a general look at what the Bishops are trying to accomplish with this new initiative and why we bother in the first place. Next week we will follow up with a more local community reflection. Happy Reading!

And so to this end, we invite each and all to come celebrate ‘our good works’ in the special Mass we have planned for the weekend of September20 and 21 at the regular times at both parishes. Then we will have an opportunity to follow up a little less formally one week later (September 27 and 28) after Mass with drinks and goodies. More on that next week but please book your calendars!

PILGRIMAGE
The shrine committee would like to extend their appreciation to everyone in our parishes of OLV and St. Malachy, who contributed to the success of the pilgrimage. It is faith Pilgrims from near and far who come to honour Our Lady.

Thank you for bringing our larger faith community together on this special day.

DIOCESE CHANGE IN MASS OFFERINGS
We have received a new directive from the Diocese concerning the offering for Masses. The offering has now been increased to $20:00 from the current offering of $15:00, effective September 1st.
